New Exciting Things :: 2019 – Year of Growth

Happy New Year! 2018 was such an exciting year. Chris and I got married, I turned 30, and Salem Style also totally rocked it.

This year, I really wanted to focus back more on Salem Style. This adventure has been great, but I think it can be even better. This year the theme is growth. I absolutely love making handmade knitwear (and will continue to do so!) but as you can see, more items are popping up in the shop. Everything that is available has been purchased from a wholesale distributor and intentionally curated by me, with you in mind. I did not make these items, I wanted to be able to offer a larger variety of accessories that you would think are awesome. Everything I selected will complement the cozy knitwear and goes with the Salem Style brand.

So I will continue making making making like crazy, but just wanted to give you the scoop on the other really cool items that you will see being added to the collection.

Thank you again for the love and support. You’re so freaking awesome.

Fall 2018

fall is such an awesome time. the leaves are changing colors, the weather is perfect, and all the cozy things emerge. autumn is a time to refresh and renew after the summer is over. i don’t know about you, but I always get that “back to school” feeling, whether I’m in school or not! instead of getting anxiety over it, I’ve turned it into excited energy! Here are some of the things we have been up to:

first, we did a fall photo shoot to really capture the vibe of Salem Style. Corinne from CE Photographee was our photographer, and Rachel styled the shoot. we had such a great time on the roof of a parking garage. music was blasting and everyone really got into it! here are just a few favorites from that day:

next, the team is growing. my heart jumps with joy just typing that. although it made me realize, there has always been a team. Chris has always been amazing with shipping out your orders, and Tim designed the current logo and website (and fixes it when I break the site). this fall, a few more awesome friends will be joining the team!

also, since I am the only one who currently makes all of the items in the shop, I have decided to scale back. at one point, I tried to have every item available in every color imaginable. going forward, I am going to remake the items in the colors that are the most popular. this will make it easier for me to make sure items stay in stock.

p.s. Chris and I got married last June

stay warm. stay cozy. stay authentic.

Turning Three :: A Look Back on 2014

I often think that it was incredibly silly to start a business right in-between Christmas and New Years. The shopping season is basically finished and the first sale opportunity was slim.  Now that we are three, (yes “we”, because Salem Style is another being), I think this was the best time to start. Having a business anniversary and the turn of the year at the same time is incredibly fitting, not to mention the accounting matches up to the calendar year perfectly. But more importantly, this is the time where people reflect on the past year, and set goals for the new year to come.

This past year has been fantastic. It started off shaky. Really shaky. The 2013 holiday season did not being what I thought it would in the shop, and the blog was basically non-existent. I was stuck in a 7 day a week job at a car dealership that I absolutely hated.  It only took until February to turn it all around. I started a new job in Boston (which I LOVE!) and I earned back the time to focus on Salem Style.

I am not going to go on and on and on, but one thing that has been amazing this past year is you. The interactions on social media and constant support and ideas have been wonderful.

This holiday season has set many new records for Salem Style, and I am overwhelmed and overjoyed. It has given me the confidence to continue and know that I can not only reach goals that I set, I can surpass them. Time to set some goals.

Cheers to leaving a great year behind and discovering a new year ahead.

Thanks for making me feel like a #GIRLBOSS
